Understanding Clear & Brilliant
Clear & Brilliant is a fractional laser, it treats the skin in thousands of microscopic columns rather than the whole surface at once, so the skin renews while recovering quickly. That's what makes it a "gentle" laser: resurfacing results with a fraction of the downtime.
There are two handpieces. The Original targets overall texture, tone and fine lines; the Perméa reaches pigment where it sits, making it the option for sun damage and uneven tone. Your nurse will choose based on your skin.
Because it's lower-intensity than aggressive resurfacing lasers, it suits a broader range of skin types and is often used for ongoing maintenance rather than as a one-off.
What to expect at your consultation
Your nurse will take a full medical history, including any recent sun exposure, skin conditions, medications and previous laser treatments, as these affect suitability - and assess your skin type, tone and the concerns you'd like to address. We'll talk through which handpiece suits you, what a course would involve, what to expect on the day and afterwards, and costs.
If another approach would suit your skin better, we'll say so. From there, we'll create a personalised plan tailored to you.

What does Clear & Brilliant feel like?

Most people describe warmth and a prickling sensation during treatment, with skin feeling like fine sandpaper for a day or so afterwards as it renews. Numbing cream is applied beforehand.
How many treatments will I need?

Typically a course of treatments spaced a few weeks apart, then maintenance. Your nurse will plan this around your skin and goals.
Is Clear & Brilliant suitable for darker skin tones?

Clear & Brilliant is generally considered suitable for a wide range of skin tones because it's a lower-intensity laser, but darker skin needs particular care with any laser, and settings are adjusted accordingly. Suitability is always assessed individually at your consultation.
Can Clear & Brilliant treat melasma?

Melasma is approached cautiously with any heat-based treatment, as heat can sometimes worsen it. Whether Clear & Brilliant is appropriate depends on your individual case and is assessed carefully at your consultation.
Who isn't suitable for Clear & Brilliant?

It's not suitable during pregnancy, on tanned or recently sun-exposed skin, over active infections or cold sores, or for anyone who has used isotretinoin (oral acne medication) recently. Your nurse will take a full history to confirm suitability.
What aftercare is involved?

Moisturiser and daily SPF are essential afterwards, and sun exposure should be avoided for a period. Your nurse will give you a full aftercare plan.
