Skin remodelling

TREATMENTS

As skin ages, it gradually loses the structure and firmness that keep it looking lifted and full. Skin remodelling describes a gradual approach to these changes - one that builds over time rather than delivering instant results, and that's often chosen by people who prefer subtle, natural-looking change over transformation.

What skin remodelling may help with

Skin remodeling treatments are often considered as part of a plan for the following concerns. Click through to learn more about each.

skin firmness

Skin that's lost some of its structure and lift.

fine lines

Lines that come with reduced firmness and elasticity.

volume loss

Areas that have flattened or hollowed with age.

jawline & contour

A softening of the face's underlying definition.

How skin structure changes with age

Skin is held up by more than its surface. Beneath it sits a framework of collagen and elastin, supported by fat and bone, and it's this framework that gives the face its firmness, lift and shape. From around the mid-twenties, collagen production slowly declines, elastin weakens, and the deeper supports gradually reduce. Over time the skin sits less firmly, contours soften, and areas can look flatter or less defined.

These are structural changes, which is why surface skincare can only do so much. A remodelling approach is about addressing the structure over time rather than the surface all at once - gradual by design, with change that develops over a course rather than a single visit.

Whether this approach suits you depends on your skin, your goals and how much change you're looking for. That's assessed at your consultation.

What to expect at your consultation

A skin remodelling consultation begins with assessing your skin's structure, firmness and elasticity, and understanding what you'd like to change and how gradually. Your nurse will take a full medical history and talk through whether a gradual, structural approach suits you, and what a realistic timeframe and course would look like.

Frequently asked questions

What is skin remodelling?

+

It's a gradual approach to the structural changes that come with age - reduced firmness, softened contours and loss of lift, that builds over time rather than delivering instant change. The specific options are discussed at your consultation.

How is it different from other treatments?

+

Skin remodelling focuses on gradual, progressive change to the skin's structure rather than immediate results. It's often chosen by people who want subtle, natural-looking improvement over time.

How long until I see results?

+

Change develops gradually over a course rather than after a single visit. Your nurse will explain the expected timeframe for your plan at your consultation.

Who is skin remodelling suited to?

+

Often people noticing early to moderate loss of firmness, softening contours, or areas that have flattened with age, particularly those who prefer gradual change. Suitability is assessed individually at your consultation.

Is it the same as skin tightening?

+

They overlap. Skin tightening is the concern - skin that's lost firmness. Skin remodelling is one gradual approach to it, addressing the skin's structure over time. Your nurse will discuss which approach suits your skin.

Is there downtime?

+

This depends on the treatment. Your nurse will explain what to expect for any option discussed.
