Corrective peels

TREATMENTS

Corrective peels are professional-strength resurfacing treatments that encourage the skin to shed its dull, damaged surface layers, helping reveal fresher-looking skin beneath. They're a versatile option for congestion, uneven tone, pigmentation and overall skin renewal, and one of the most established treatments in skin care.

Understanding corrective peels

A peel applies a professional-grade solution to exfoliate the skin at a controlled depth, deeper and more precisely than any at-home product. As the treated surface sheds over the following days, it's replaced by fresher skin with more even tone and texture.

Peels vary by depth and ingredient. Superficial peels work on the outer layer with minimal downtime, often for congestion and dullness; medium-depth peels reach further, with a few days of visible peeling, for more established pigmentation and texture. Your nurse will select the right peel and strength for your skin and most concerns respond best to a course rather than a one-off.

What to expect at your consultation

Your nurse will take a full medical history, including any recent sun exposure, skin conditions, medications and previous peels or resurfacing and assess your skin type, tone and the concerns you'd like to address. We'll talk through which peel suits you, what a course would involve, what to expect afterwards, and costs.

Note: All cosmetic procedures carry risks, and results vary between individuals. Your nurse will explain these in full before any treatment.

Frequently asked questions

Will my skin visibly peel?

+

It depends on the peel. Some cause only light flaking; others a few days of visible peeling. Your nurse will tell you exactly what to expect from your specific peel.

How many peels will I need?

+

Many concerns respond best to a course of peels spaced a few weeks apart. Your nurse will recommend a plan for your skin and goals.

Are peels suitable for darker skin tones?

+

Yes, with care. Darker skin has a higher risk of post-inflammatory pigmentation, so peel type and strength are chosen accordingly and sun protection is essential. Suitability is assessed individually at your consultation.

Who isn't suitable for a peel?

+

Peels aren't suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, over active cold sores or infections, on recently sun-exposed skin, or for anyone who has used isotretinoin (oral acne medication) recently. Your nurse will take a full history to confirm suitability.

Can I wear makeup afterwards?

+

Usually not for a short period after treatment. Your nurse will give you a full aftercare plan, including daily SPF, which is essential.

Are peels suitable for sensitive skin?

+

There are gentle options for most skin types, including sensitive skin, but suitability is assessed individually at your consultation.
